It’s a volunteer programme very similar to those at Auckland Airport and various hospitals within Auckland. Court Ambassadors greet and assist visitors in the various Court buildings. The role is part- time: hours can be agreed with each volunteer.
The Ambassadors are required to assist those members of the public who have special needs and there’s an expectation they'll deliver exceptional customer service showing discretion, support, civility, tact and act in a non-judgmental way. All discussions need to remain confidential.
Court Ambassadors are given training in the layout of the court building and in how a court works and the different types of court hearings and successful applicants are provided with a blazer plus tie for men and scarf for women.
Anju Sood, Acting Court Service Manager of the Criminal Section at Manukau District Court says she’s looking for people to train as Ambassadors at Manukau District Court. “If you know of any family members, relatives or friends who may be interested in such a volunteer role please contact me and I will provide an application form”.
