Presentation: Judicial Justices of the Peace

Ric Carlyon - Friday, May 27, 2016

Les Smith, Chair of the Court Management Panel in Auckland, presented diplomas to successful students of last year's Judicial Studies Course at a recent Judicial Training Seminar.

L to R: Les Smith, Greg Ogg, Alan Martin, Sheryl Hazelwood (from Franklin Assn) and  Leah Davey.

Congratulations to the successful students who are already doing valuable work on the bench.

Those attending the seminar heard from Judges' Research Counsel, Jerome Webby, while  Charlotte Best talked about issues relating to disclosure of evidence. Graeme Hutchinson, forensic nurse at Auckland District Court, spoke about facilities available for defendants with mental health issues.

A milestone was also celebrated. Opportunity was taken to acknowledge Ken Graham, JP, who has served forty years' on the bench. This is possibly unprecedented service in our courts.
