BDM’s Move

Ric Carlyon - Thursday, May 19, 2016

Births, Deaths and Marriages information source has moved, now found on the internet at Govt.nz.

Registrar-General of Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM), Jeff Montgomery, says the move makes it easier for New Zealanders to find BDM Information. Govt.nz , Mr Montgomery says,  brings together government information in one place and uses language and design that is easy for customers to find and understand.

“The information has been rewritten in plain English and presented in a way that makes sense to our customers - focussing on a particular product or service. Now that the material is live," he says, "you'll find everything you need to know on Govt.nz.

“BDM, part of the Department of Internal Affairs, helps people when they are making plans for a very significant event in their life," says Mr Montgomery.  "Whether they’re getting married, recognising the birth of their child, or dealing with the death of family or friends, BDM has an important role to play.”

“We are responsible for registering all births (including stillbirths), deaths, marriages, civil unions and name changes in New Zealand and, as a result, my team issues more than 350,000 certificates, print- outs and marriage licences each year”.

“We’d love to hear your feedback about how you find using the information Govt.nz"
